Thanks so much for pointing this out. I have been using xephem -which still has its place- but stellarium is really nice. xephem btw has unfortunatly be kicked out of debian. A shame.

With some good luck I'll get my tiny 114/900 out and go up to the mountains to see the mars opposition.
